We are honored to announce that Docs In Progress has received funding from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.

Funds will support a series of weekend master classes with seasoned documentary filmmakers to showcase the range and diversity of documentary film approaches. These workshops will bring three seasoned filmmakers (Doug Block, Michèle Stephenson, and Nels Bangerter) to the Washington DC area to share their knowledge of the documentary industry with Docs In Progress Fellows and others in the local documentary community. The first of these master classes will take place this August.

Docs In Progress is one of 44 organizations from 24 communities across the United States which has received support from The Academy's prestigious FilmCraft and FilmWatch grants established to identify and empower future filmmakers from nontraditional backgrounds, cultivate new and diverse talent, promote motion pictures as an art form, and provide a platform for underrepresented artists.
