Community Engagement

While Docs In Progress works to foster the work of the documentary film community, documentary storytelling is about making connections with different communities. We are also committed to engaging the broader public through a variety of outreach and engagement programs, including:

Silver Spring Stories
Production students learn documentary storytelling skills by drawing on the wealth of stories in our community. Click here for more information.

Documetary Conversations
Docs In Progress works to engage the community around documentary through various screening and discussion programs held in Silver Spring and at other locations around the Metropolitan Washington area. Click here for more information.

Docs In Progress for Youth
Docs In Progress is developing several programs aimed at youth, including a partnership with the Gandhi Brigade, another Silver Spring-based nonprofit which prepares young people to become leaders in the community through media-making. In 2010, we held our first youth summer camp focused on documentary filmmaking. Click here for more information.
