is a member of the Docs In Progress Board of Directors. She has co-produced, researched, marketed and created the website for American Feud: A History of Conservatives and Liberals. This 90-minute documentary has been featured at film festivals and is currently being sold on Amazon.com and though educational distributors. She also produced, directed and researched Cheng Se Tseo in his Own Words which aired on two PBS affiliates. She has also worked in public access television.
In an age of declining newspaper circulation and traditional media, there are fewer people conducting in-depth investigations into important topics. From her experience as a filmmaker, Simone knows that documentary filmmakers often take a more thoughtful long term approach to their subjects. For this reason she believes passionately that their work will become more critical in bringing the citizenry the information needed for a functioning democracy and thus needs to be supported. She takes an avid interest in new media and changing paradigms of distribution, especially self-distribution. Simone is the proud mother of two teenage sons who are none the less embarrassed to be seen with her in public. She is a native born Washingtonian, whose work in the community ranges from teaching Boy Scout Merit badges and being a room parent to community gardening. She is a dual American and French citizen. In what free time she has, she enjoys still photography, hiking, biking, yoga, kayaking and judo.
