Monica is the Marketing Manager for Docs In Progress. She has more than 20 years of experience working in marketing and design with various organizations, non-profits, and federal agencies.
In addition to her work with Docs In Progress, she is a freelance graphic designer whose clients include filmmakers, nonprofits, and businesses.
Most recently, she worked with The Arc of the United States where she was responsible for developing marketing materials and maintaining branding parameters for national campaigns, print, web, social media, infographics and data visualizations, as well as developing strategic marketing plans for events, publications, and promotions. In addition, she served as art director for PSAs, training videos, and documentaries.
She has also served as a bilingual (English/Spanish) Parent Resource Specialist for the Alexandria City Public Schools where she provided direct assistant to parents and guardians of children receiving special education services through the school system.
She worked for many years for the Smithsonian Institution where she worked as an Exhibitions Graphic Designer for the National Museum of the American Indian, Web Producer at the American Art Museum, and an Exhibits Specialist. While there she served as a member and Secretary for the Smithsonian's Latino Working Committee.
Monica has an M.A. in Communication, Culture, and Technology from Georgetown University and a B.A. in Architecture from the University of California, Berkeley
