CURRENT VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES 

Volunteer Videographer for Upcoming Events

  • Friday, September 16 (10:00 am - 3:00 pm) in Downtown Silver Spring, MD: Docs In Progress will be participating in Park(ing) Day where we will be taking over a parking spot in the heart of downtown Silver Spring to provide an interview station for local residents to share their thoughts on community. We can provide one of our cameras, but will need one or two volunteers with videography experience to help film interviews and demonstrate interviewing skills for general public.

  • Thursday, October 20 (6:00 pm - 10:30 pm) in Penn Quarter of Washington DC: We are in need of one or more photographers with your own camera to record events of the Documentary Inspiration Awards Honoring Ramona Diaz (VIP Reception, Step and Repeat, and shots of the stage and audience. You will need to have videography experience and your own camera (since all of our cameras will be in use with students). Your camera must be able to record audio and hook into the sound board of the event. We can reimburse you for cards and, of course, you will get to attend the event gratis.

Volunteer Photographer for Upcoming Events

  • Thursday, October 20 (6:00 pm - 10:30 pm) in Penn Quarter of Washington DC: We are in need of a still photographer to record the Documentary Inspiration Awards Honoring Ramona Diaz. You will need to have your own camera an be able to deliver the photos within 24 hours of the event via Dropbox or Google Drive. Of course, you will get to attend the event gratis.

Set-Up and Check-in Volunteers for Upcoming Events

  • Thursday, October 20 (6:00 pm - 10:30 pm) in Penn Quarter of Washington DC: We are in need of a general volunteers to help with setting up the step and repeat and at the check-in table for the Documentary Inspiration Awards Honoring Ramona Diaz. You do not need prior experience, but you do need be reliable, on time, and able to work well with other volunteers and our guests since you may be the first impression of Docs In Progress. Check-in volunteers may miss the first 30 minutes of the event.

Street Team to help distribute postcards to promote fall programs at locations throughout the DC Metro area. Would need to pick up postcards at Docs In Progress and distribute before Labor Day.

Documentary events calendar editor: We are looking to revive a part of our website that we used to have which is a list of upcoming documentary screenings in the Washington DC Metropolitan area. If you can spare 2-4 hours a week to research upcoming screenings and film festivals at commercial theaters, museums, cultural centers, etc. and add these screenings with links to a page on our website, let us know.

consider joining our Board of Directors. We are currently accepting applications for our Board to begin service in January 2017. The deadline to apply is September 30.
