How to submit a film for Docs in Progress workshops?

We are now accepting submissions for our June 10 workshop
at the Jack Morton Auditorium in Washington DC.

Deadline for online submission has been extended to: April 30, 2008.

We are also looking for submissions by Maryland-based filmmakers
for our October 2008 program at The Creative Alliance in Baltimore.

Is My Project Eligible to Submit?
Docs in Progress considers submissions of independent documentaries at the rough cut stage (no trailers, six hour layouts, or completed works).

We accept submissions of both shorts and features (note that we may only be able to screen up to 70 minutes of a feature).

There is currently no fee to submit your film for consideration.

Although we define "documentary" rather broadly and may screen documentaries with dramatized, experimental, political, or advocacy elements, we do not screen pure fictions films, mockumentaries, music videos, industrials, or works that are purely promotional in nature.

Filmmakers do not have to be based in the Washington DC area, but must be able to attend the screening night at your own expense, and must be open to listening to constructive criticism.

The preview copy of a film must be available in VHS or DVD.  Films can be screened in Beta-SP, S-VHS, Mini-DV, VHS, or DVD (for DVDs, we will also require a tape backup).

We accept submissions on a rolling basis, but cannot guarantee consideration for the next screening if submitted after the deadline.

You may want to read our Frequently Asked Questions page for more information on the workshops.
