Quince Orchard, a community located in northwestern Montgomery County, Maryland, developed from the hardship, isolation and adversity common to small farming communities in the post-Civil War era. Despite these elements, or perhaps because of them, this community embraced faith, lauded perseverance, and fomented community. As told by the compelling stories of its residents, this is the evolutionary tale of the Quince Orchard community – from its inauspicious beginnings as a farming post to contemporary bustling suburbia – and what was gained and lost along the way.
