Dr. Mark Friedman teaches Disability Studies at the City University of New York and research design to doctoral students at Rosalind-Franklin University of Medicine and Science in Chicago. He has spent his career helping people with disabilities gain a voice and move out of large scale state institutions into community homes. He is the CEO of Blue Fire Consulting providing training and technical assistance to nonprofit and governmental agencies in twenty-two states and Kosovo and Ecuador. He is the former Chairperson of the Pennsylvania Developmental Disabilities Council and the author of thirteen research journals and book chapters. He is the recipient of ten public service awards along with an organizational endowment for Organizational Excellence. Dr. Friedman received his Ph.D. degree in Organizational Leadership from the Union Institute and University and his MA in Organizational Development from Antioch University. His team-produced short documentary, A Flight of Fancy, screened at the 2018 Docs in Progress Community Stories Festival.
