Documentary Structure Strategies

Description: If you were building a house, you would need to have a blueprint which provides a plan of what it will look like. A film is no different. The earlier you address the structure of your film, the more control you have over the entire filmmaking process. In this session we’ll look at storytelling and structure building strategies that help progress your documentary, including character development, the development of themes, and the management of time and space. For filmmakers in development or production, this session will help you better organize your ideas and shoot with specific goals in mind that will help you avoid filming loads of material that won’t help you tell the story. For filmmakers who are beginning post-production, this session will help you to get a handle onto your material by applying storytelling strategies that will progress your film.
