Upcoming Events

Here's what's coming up from Docs In Progress.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, our in-person events are currently on hold.

Our Summer Teen Filmmaking Workshops will be held online, if you're looking for a great summer activity for your teen, please review the additional information below:

  • First Session - Teen Filmmaking Workshop - Ages 12-15

Give voice to a teen and let them know we care.

Some of the most heartfelt, rawest work has come from the teens participating in our annual summer filmmaking workshops. It is a fun and dynamic learning experience.

Docs recently redesigned the workshop to be a remote activity.  This year we decided to have a theme --"Inside Voices: My Life under COVID-19." where our young filmmakers can express what they are going through -- good and bad, funny and sad -- during these difficult times for themselves, their families and their communities.

This workshop is scheduled Jul 7-17 for teens 12-15

    Cost per student: $500

We have a second workshop scheduled Jul 27- Aug 7 for teens 16-18

Classes will be held via Zoom from 10 am -noon [M-F] with afternoons set aside for writing, filming and post-production.  Each participant will receive a loaner gear bag with an iPad and other equipment.  They also will be assigned a Teaching Assistant who will work with them during the afternoons of independent activity.

Each camp will be capped at ten participants and includes a limited number of scholarships slots.

Teaching Artist is Angela Pinaglia, filmmaker, former Docs Fellow and present Docs In Progress’s inaugural Fellow facillatator, and Summer Filmmaking Camp Instructor with The American University.  Angela recently completed the documentary, Life in Synchro about women and the sport of synchronized skating.

  • DOCUMENTARY ROUNDTABLE: Trailer Night

Each month, Docs In Progress and Women in Film and Video-DC co-host the Documentary Roundtable. Held on the second Monday of every month (except when holidays conflict), these free meetings switch between Washington DC and Silver Spring. The Washington DC meetings organized by WIFV are focused on receiving expert advice on topics related to documentary filmmaking while the Silver Spring meetings organized by Docs In Progress are focused on peer feedback, often a presentation and review of a director's 'Trailer'.

Documentary Roundtable meetings are free for members of WIFV or Docs Premium Insiders.

If you're a WIFV member or Docs Premium Insider click here to RSVP.

There is a $10 fee for the general public.
