Give voice to a teen and let them know we care.
Some of the most heartfelt, rawest work has come from the teens participating in our annual summer filmmaking workshops. It is a fun and dynamic learning experience.
Docs recently redesigned the workshop to be a remote activity. This year we decided to have a theme --"Inside Voices: My Life under COVID-19." where our young filmmakers can express what they are going through -- good and bad, funny and sad -- during these difficult times for themselves, their families and their communities.
This workshop is scheduled Jul 27- August 7 for teens 16-18
Cost per student: $500
We have an earlier workshop scheduled Jul 7- 17 for teens 12-15
Classes will be held via Zoom from 10 am -noon [M-F] with afternoons set aside for writing, filming and post-production. Each participant will receive a loaner gear bag with an iPad and other equipment. They also will be assigned a Teaching Assistant who will work with them during the afternoons of independent activity.
Each camp will be capped at ten participants and includes a limited number of scholarships slots.
Teaching Artist is Angela Pinaglia, filmmaker, former Docs Fellow and present Docs In Progress’s inaugural Fellow facillatator, and Summer Filmmaking Camp Instructor with The American University. Angela recently completed the documentary, Life in Synchro about women and the sport of synchronized skating.
