About
The Fellowship Programs of Docs In Progress provide filmmakers
a facilitated support system to develop new documentaries.
Since 2013, the Docs In Progress Legacy Fellowship has supported documentary filmmakers through facilitated cohort meetings where fellows share project progress and receive peer and mentor feedback on the creative process, the documentary landscape, and work–life balance. Open to filmmakers nationwide, the Legacy Fellowship serves those in production and post-production and is conducted virtually over seven sessions.
In 2023, Docs In Progress launched the Story Development Fellowship, a six-session, in-person program in Silver Spring focused on the critical early stages of documentary development.
With support from the National Endowment for the Arts and FWD-Doc, Docs In Progress launched the Virtual Fellowship for Filmmakers with Disabilities in 2025.
Deepening its commitment to impact-driven storytelling, Docs In Progress is launching the Virtual Impact Producing Fellowship in 2026.
