The Fellowship Programs of Docs In Progress provide filmmakers 
a facilitated support system to develop new documentaries.   

Applications for 2024 Fellowships are now closed.

Since 2013, the Docs In Progress [Legacy] Fellowship provides selected filmmakers monthly facilitated meetings.  Together they share progress in their projects and receive feedback on issues related to the documentary landscape, work/life balance, and the creative process. Filmmakers based anywhere in the US are welcome to apply. 

In 2023, Docs In Progress launched a new Fellowship for Story Development. We recognize the critical role this phase plays in the documentary filmmaking process and the need for dedicated attention before production begins. This six-session fellowship will be in-person at Docs In Progress' Silver Spring Office.

The Legacy Fellowship, which will focus on those filmmakers who are in production and/or post production stage, will continue to conducted virtually over seven sessions.
