In this workshop tailored for filmmakers you’ll learn how to craft budgets that align with the requirements of funders, satisfy your creative goals, and cater to your personal needs. Gain insights and strategies to navigate the process of budgeting with confidence.

The workshop will give insight into the following questions:

  • What's the best way to structure a documentary budget?
  • What are some common budgeting mistakes to avoid?
  • How do you adjust your budget for different types of documentaries?

 

Teaching Artist: Kris Higgins

Kris Higgins has managed and reviewed documentary budgets for numerous public media programs, including NOVA, Nature, Sesame Street, Frontline, and Ken Burns' films. He serves on the board of the Children's Media Association as Global Treasurer and previously as the Chair and Treasure of Docs In Progress. Kris holds an MFA in Film & Media Arts from American University.
