Documentary Budgeting Bootcamp (on Zoom)

A budget is more than a financial document. It's a blueprint for your documentary. In this hands-on, three-hour workshop, you'll learn how to build a realistic production budget, research costs, and make informed assumptions about every phase of your project. By the end of the session, you'll leave with a draft budget tailored to your documentary and the knowledge to refine it for future production planning and fundraising.

Teaching Artist: Kris Higgins

Kris Higgins has managed and reviewed documentary budgets for numerous public media programs, including NOVA, Nature, Sesame Street, Frontline, and Ken Burns' films. He serves on the board of the Children's Media Association as Global Treasurer and previously as the Chair and Treasure of Docs In Progress. Kris holds an MFA in Film & Media Arts from American University.
