A weekly roller-skating night provides community, joy, and even salvation for regulars in attendance. For the regulars at Playland Skate Center in Austin, Texas, a weekly roller-skating night provides adults with the space to be in community with others, while allowing them to connect to their individual selves. In 2024, Playland Skate Center will celebrate its 50-year anniversary and highlight the evolution of Playland Skate Center, as well as the evolution of Austin during this 50-year time span.

Bio:
Jacquie Ring is an emerging independent documentary filmmaker located in Austin, Texas. She has spent over 20 years working with social services and justice-related programs across the country. She believes in the power of communication and storytelling. As a lifelong roller skater herself, this project is near and dear to Jacquie’s heart.
