Saraniya Tharmarajah
In Science We Trust

Saraniya Tharmarajah is an interdisciplinary film/theater maker and public health researcher. Her work uses a multidisciplinary approach to communicating public health research findings based on qualitative interviews. Saraniya incorporates photography, film, and playwriting, and focuses on dialogical processes of creation. Her original works include Confessions of a Coconut (O’Neill Semi-Finalist) and COVID Monologues (HowlRound, American Public Health Association), and her work has been supported by the US Department of State, Maryland State Arts Council, and the National Institutes of Health. Saraniya holds degrees from Johns Hopkins University and Oxford University and was a Fulbright Scholar in India. She is currently completing her doctorate at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health.
